AMA seeks to hire a Science Strategic Analyst (Systems Engineer/Scientist/Programmer) to provide strategic analysis support to the Science Mission Directorate at NASA Langley in Hampton, VA.

Job Description:

AMA seeks to hire a Science Strategic Analyst (Systems Engineer/Scientist/Programmer) to provide strategic analysis support to the Science Mission Directorate. Specifically, the work will focus on analysis support for the SMD Deputy Associate Administrator for Programs Office (DAAP), the Earth Science Division, and other customers as needed.

An ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems modelling across in Earth Science, Planetary Science, Biological and Physical Sciences, Heliophysics, and Astrophysics disciplines, have experience with the Decadal Survey, instruments or sensors and their measurement objectives, developing analysis tools and use of tools in science mission and portfolio analysis. This is a full time, exempt position providing onsite support at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA.


Responsibilities:

  • Perform systems modeling and analysis of science portfolios for the NASA Science Mission Directorate, applying tools and methods to characterize, assess, and optimize these portfolios
  • Aid in design, development, and maintenance of tools and capabilities that enable assessment of science portfolios
  • Produce/maintain documentation and report on development, management, and configuration control of tools and analysis produced in support of the Science Mission Directorate. The contractor shall archive documents and reports in a government-provided location
  • Embrace and enhance knowledge management and innovation with diverse customers

Requirements:

  • B.S in Math / Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Physics, Atmospheric Sciences, Chemistry, Aerospace Engineering, or Computer Science with applicable experience
  • Minimum 1 year of academic or professional experience in systems modeling, statistical analysis, and visualizations preferably in the Earth science and space science systems disciplines
  • Ability to interface successfully with NASA, commercial and international customers
  • Excellent written and oral technical communication skills
  • Programming skills in HTML Java script, CSS, Python
  • Proficient use of tools such as MATLAB
  • Must work locally onsite at LaRC with the LaRC/HQ Science team with periodic travel needed to support integration activities

Must be a US citizen or legal permanent resident.
