Job Description

Moog's Fluids Controls Group leads multi-disciplinary teams to develop solutions for complex technical applications in the rapidly growing Space Sector. The group has been awarded several cryogenic valves to be used in rocket applications. In addition, there are several new opportunities for fluid control devices in support of the Environmental Control and Life Support System (ECLSS). These exciting development projects expand Moog's platform of fluid control devices to support launch and exploration vehicles.

Current projects at Moog include the following types of hardware development: cryogenic ball valves, cryogenic relief valves, solenoid and latch valves for storable propellants, solenoid and latch valves for high pressure gas, brushless DC motor-driven valves as well as pressure control and regulation hardware.

The Senior Project Engineer is a primary motivator and contributor to the analysis, conceptual design, development, and testing of complex control hardware used on military, commercial and NASA vehicles and equipment. The products of Moog are generally unique for each customer. Therefore, new applications require a special, tailored design--even though adaptation of existing designs always should be considered where appropriate. In this role, you will operate either independently or as part of a larger design and development team including other department engineers. Your primary concerns are system or component performance and integration...and achieving both within budget and prescribed schedules. You will coordinate the work of drafters, technicians, designers, analysts, manufacturing engineers and others who assist in specific assignments. Facilitative leadership will also be required with program management, quality engineering, and operations. This role will keep you challenged by taking advantage of your knowledge, experience, and skills in technical coordination and communication.

  • Develop new product requirements through consulting with customers and sales personnel.
  • Establish and monitor engineering project budgets and schedules.
  • Validate conceptual problem solutions by performing trade studies and analyses.
  • Prepare successful proposal designs, cost estimates, and shoulder the responsibility for writing the technical volume.
  • Operate as a key element in a team of creative, independent individuals.
  • Represent Moog in a manner consistent with its technical reputation.
  • Create reliable designs through a comprehensive experimental development test program.
  • Document designs, analyses, and test results with accurate and concise reports.
  • Consult on new product and market development efforts.
  • Assist in interviewing, training, and counseling junior engineers.
  • When applicable, supervise subordinate engineers and project/product engineering technicians.

A successful candidate will:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, or Electrical Engineering with 7 years of experience or, a MS Degree in Engineering and 3 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding achieved through experience in the design, analysis, development and production of complex electromechanical hardware.
  • Self-starting instincts and strong analytical skills, both required to fulfill the demands of design and development of new products.
  • Experience with component design, development and verification testing.
  • The ability to effectively communicate technical and programmatic information and to manage competing priorities of multiple stakeholders.

Our Benefits:

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits on day one
  • Flexible planned vacation
  • 401K, profit share, and employee stock purchase options
  • Tuition reimbursement program
  • Inclusive company culture
