Location:

The successful candidate will be expected to work in a hybrid status of reporting to any Consumers Energy Service Center every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday with home office flexibility on Wednesday and Friday.

We are looking for:

The Transportation, Renewable Energy, and Innovation (TRI) team is dedicated to driving the transition to electric vehicles and renewable energy and creating a center of excellence for innovation. As we continue to lead the clean energy transformation, we are seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Executive Director of TRI.

As the Executive Director of TRI, you will be at the forefront of our efforts to put 1 million EVs on the road by 2030, accelerate the adoption of renewable energy, and create a pipeline of new clean energy offerings. You will spearhead innovative projects, forge strategic partnerships, and drive operational excellence to ensure we are pacing appropriately to the wants and needs of our customers. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the next chapter of our TRI product portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy to advance the Company's initiatives in electric transportation, renewable energy, and innovation projects.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams to create, plan, and implement innovative projects that drive the adoption of electric vehicles and renewable energy solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities for partnership and collaboration, leveraging complementary expertise and resources.
  • Oversee project management activities, including budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, and risk management, to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation by staying abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electric transportation and renewable energy.
  • Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and excellence within the project teams, providing leadership, mentorship, and support to team members.
  • Serve as a spokesperson for the company, representing our organization at industry events, conferences, and forums to showcase our thought leadership and expertise.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track the progress and impact of electric transportation, renewable energy, and innovation projects.
  • Deep understanding of electric vehicle technologies, renewable energy systems, and project management methodologies.

The Executive Director of Product Management. will be responsible for the strategic oversight and execution of the planning, development, promotion, implementation, and monitoring of residential, commercial, and industrial products, initiatives, projects, programs and services that will meet established short and long term business goals and outcomes. They will oversee the Product Lifecycle Mgmt (PLM) for their respective portfolio. They will collaborate across the enterprise with internal and external stakeholders, including the Michigan Public Service Commission and State officials. Product and program offerings will include all of our utility regulated products and services that are at various stages of their product lifecycle.

  • Skilled at conducting research and executing product development
  • Experience leading product managers and designing processes required to support strategic growth
  • Interpersonal savvy - Ability to influence stakeholders in support of achieving strategic business outcomes
  • Working knowledge of regulated business model
  • Experience with corporate strategic planning process
  • Experience as a product owner in a highly regulated environment preferred
  • Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills
  • Demonstrated executive presence and public speaking experience
  • Strong leadership and team building skills
  • Ability to build, lead motivated teams that deliver results and get things done through others
  • Business Acumen - Strong financial and data analysis capabilities

  • Prior senior leadership experience with strategic oversight of customer product portfolio
  • Experience with product lifecycle management
  • Experience creating business plans, strategies, and tactics that achieve business goals and outcomes

  • Masters Degree
  • Process Mgmt./Lean management methodology (model CE Way)
  • Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)

In this role, you will:

  • Development and oversight of the vision and core business strategies for the assigned product portfolio. Develop and ensure we have long/short term market/products/solutions to maximize enrollments and customer activation to deliver outcomes that help the enterprise meet its objectives.
  • As product owner, analyze data, benchmark best practices, research trends and recommend life cycle changes to ensure our business model remains robust and relevant in order to achieve enterprise goals and outcomes.
  • Provide oversight and counsel during business case concept development for products and lead senior management reviews in strategic planning process.
  • Collaboration across customer organizations and CMS enterprise that result in strong partnerships to ensure company, organization, and dept goals/outcomes are achieved.
  • Strategic liaison to Rates & Regulatory teams on complex matters that result in achieving successful regulatory outcomes that support our business plans and strategies.
  • Provides leadership and coaching to team responsible for executing on our short and long term strategic plans, that achieve our desired end state. cultivates a healthy constructive culture among the team members.
  • Other non-essential duties as assigned or may be necessary.
