The 2nd Shift Supervisor will supervise and lead one or multiple assigned production departments, includes assigning work, encouraging team involvement, completing the performance management process for all operators, scheduling work, ensuring needed equipment is maintained and purchased and developing and following the department budget.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of a production function.

  • Responsible for training and developing staff, estimating personnel needs, assigning work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring consistent application of organizational policies.

  • Trains operators on procedures, methods, problem solving, prints, programming, quality requirements, team methods and safety.

  • Typically communicates within own department and may communicate with parties external to the department which may include customer or partners depending upon the job function.

  • Explains policies, practices, and procedures of the area of responsibility to others within the team.

  • Educates operators in the safety requirements of their department and plant.

  • Coaches operators on safety improvements, department inspections, safety surveys and follow up on safety issues.

  • Works with operators on quality assurance, including quality requirements and procedures for the department and plant, as well as monitoring quality.

  • Makes adjustments or recommended enhancements in systems and processes to solve problems or improve team effectiveness.

  • Problems faced are general and may require understanding of other teams and broader set of issues, but typically are not complex.

  • Decisions are guided by policies, procedures, and business plan; receives guidance from manager.

  • Typically supervises a team consisting generally of two or more employees in support roles and/or entry level professional level jobs.

  • Provides day-to-day work direction, focuses on maintaining steady workflow and productivity and resolves operational decisions.

  • Provides primary input to hiring, firing, promotion, performance, and rewards decisions for direct reports

  • Coaches operators through the problem solving process to identify problem areas and solve them, including manufacturing processes, reducing set up time, equipment problems and reducing scrap.

  • Supervises production staff directly or through group leads.

  • Understands basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and process execution.

  • Typically requires broad job knowledge of technical or operational practices within assigned discipline.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2+ years production supervision experience.

  • ERP experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 5+ years of production supervision experience

  • Oracle or SAP experience

  • Lean Manufacturing

Pay range: Annual Salary Range is $75,000 - $90,000 Annually. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to applicable work experience, training, education, performance, and work location.
