General laborer

Michigan Center, MI

Primary Responsibilities

  • The General Laborer reports to the Production Supervisor and has the primary responsibility of general housekeeping duties throughout the manufacturing plant.

  • Daily cleaning duties will be assigned and will include dust mitigation, disposal of trash, floor scraping, spill clean-ups and general maintenance of cleaning machines (floor sweeper and scrubbers).

  • Other duties may include non-technical assembly projects (furniture etc.), moving office furniture, snow removal, and grounds clean up. Monitor and maintain areas around trash compactors and open top trash dumpsters.

  • Assist supervisors in identifying housekeeping problem areas

  • Self-directed at times as need

  • Operate a forklift, operate powered floor sweeper and scrubber

  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, brushes, brooms shovels, etc.

  • Capable of heavy lifting

  • May be required to operate snow thrower and weed trimmer type equipment

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • No prior experience required

  • Knowledge of common software programs (MS office)

  • Ability to read and understand work orders, production process, safety regulations and quality procedures and instructions.

  • Availability to work any shifts

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year experience in industrial environment

  • Understanding of basic English

Physical Environment

  • Required to stand for long periods of time

  • Walk and climb stairs

  • Use hands to remove or lift boxes

  • Stretch and reach with arms extended

  • Stoop and bend

  • Regularly lift up to 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds with assistance

  • Temperature, dust, smell and noise are under normal chemical environment conditions

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.

The salary for this role is $17.74/hr.
