What you'll do

As the Commodity Manager for (a Shyft Group Brand) based at our R&D Innovation Center in , you will enjoy spearheading value-creating sourcing decisions by identifying, developing, and implementing supplier and product value stream improvement initiatives on new program launches.

You will accomplish this by effectively utilizing strategic sourcing processes, cost targeting, supplier performance management, supplier development, and through value engineering processes.

Additionally, you will also be expected to support the business goals related to quality, technology, and cost of current products as well as support the business needs for innovative new product launches, while also mitigating supply chain risks.

This role is designated as Hybrid, with a schedule that requires the individual to be in office two to three (3) days per week.

You will also:

  • Oversee negotiations with suppliers and execute supplier agreements ranging from $1M-$20M
  • Partner cross-functionally to understand and monitor Blue Arc's needs to best serve our customers and to maintain a competitive edge in the market
  • Create and implement strategic product sourcing strategies in partnership with Supply Chain
  • Oversee efforts for examine new suppliers
  • Manage and drive supplier performance in the areas of quality, cost, capacity, delivery, and overall value
  • Rationalize and segment strategies for suppliers, categories, and parts
  • Ensure potential suppliers meet Blue Arc's performance requirements
  • Utilize your program management skills to facilitate timely implementation of sourcing items
  • Develop working relationships with both internal stakeholders and suppliers
  • Navigate and facilitate solutions when supplier issues occur
  • Ensure suppliers conform to our terms and conditions
  • Maintain a high level of supplier performance adding value
  • Create total cost of ownership and make vs. buy analyses
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Gather and examine data for specific categories and suppliers
  • Identify and implement value-adding activities within the supply chain
  • Manage relationships with assigned suppliers
  • Align suppliers' operating plans to achieve company goals
  • Stay abreast of current industry and global market trends

What you need to be successful
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Materials Management, Finance, Engineering, or Operations
  • Five or more (5+) years of experience in a professional procurement role with exposure to diverse manufacturing processes and commodities
  • Extensive knowledge of business operations, finance, accounting, legal, materials management, engineering, quality, and manufacturing
  • Expertise in performing cost analysis and negotiating supplier deals
  • An array of commodity experience with a focus on electrical components (Preferred)
  • A reputation for cultivating strong cross-functional and supplier partnerships
  • In-depth understanding of supplier management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to occasionally travel to suppliers (up to 20%)
