LG Magna e-Powertrain USA is currently looking for an experienced, motivated, and results-oriented Quality Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the head of Quality, The Quality Engineer is responsible to resolve quality issues, provide field support, and resolve customer issues using problem solving techniques.

Overall Responsibilities:

Our Quality Engineer position is a collaborative and highly impactful role that will be responsible as a direct contact person in the all of the quality area for e-PT components (Inverter, Convertor, On-board Charger, APM and Motor) returned from the customer plant, including analyzing, repairing and identifying root causes.

The major tasks are shown below:

  • Responsible for management of Customer's warranty center, including shipping/receiving e-PT components that are returned from Customer warehouse/ plant / Warranty return, analyzing, root causing, problem solving and repair/refurbish the defective parts and validation with chamber/TAS and test EOL equipment
  • Maintenance test equipment; EOL, Charger/Discharger, Leak Tester, etc.
  • Responsible for all of quality issues and field support and plant Liaison that is related to all of e-PT components (Inverter, Convertor and Motor)
  • Analyzes all warranty claims to determine root cause why the product was returned
  • Tear down returned product to find out problem parts and analyze root causes
  • Lead APQP activates and coordinates PPAP documentation (PFD, PCP, PFMEA) for customer approval
  • Participate in the development of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis
  • Lead response to emerging quality issues and responsible for containment and tracking of those issues
  • Effectively communication with customer and internal communication of quality issues
  • Leads quality analysis of customer reported failures (PRR) and finds potential root cause of failed part
  • Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data; making recommendations
  • Reports quality status internally and to the customer, using, PRTS, 5 Phase, GQTS, 8D
  • Collaborate with other Quality Engineers to improve electrical analysis skills through full-fledged experience.
  • Collaborate and give guidance to production plants to gather data using quality tools to prepare and complete and submit customer required documentation regarding quality issues.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial engineering
  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a Quality Engineer or Test Engineer
  • Ability to tear down electrical parts or systems and perform complex root cause analysis and verification.
  • Experience in strategic planning, process improvement, analyzing information, quality engineering, attention to detail, thoroughness and dealing with complexity
  • Knowledge of Quality system (TS16949) and APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, etc.
  • Understanding of electrical printed circuit board assembly
  • Ability to interpret and create electrical schematics
  • Ability to travel up to 10% to customer sites and for business meetings is required
  • Ability to use independent judgment and exercise discretion while performing job tasks.

Preferred and Desired Qualifications:

  • Technical Knowledge of automotive electronics
  • Experienced in Electrical Vehicle components such as Inverter or Convertor
  • Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Reliability Engineer
  • Knowledge to read and understand programming languages such as C Languages, Visual Basic, and/or others
  • Ability to be Self-driven, results oriented with a strong sense of initiative in tackling complex tasks
  • Ability to learn quickly with the willingness and flexibility to learn and adapt to company working culture and processes
  • Excellent written / verbal communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to understand customer needs and to probe for answers, and then determine a solution and advocate that solution to the customer
  • Ability to work with customers and internal stakeholders and make sure all deliverables are met
  • Capacity to identify risks and raise issues to relevant stakeholders
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and to maintain deadlines
  • Knowledge of OEM process and requirements
