Summary

Verifying timekeeping records weekly and addressing any discrepancies, while being the key point of contact for any payroll related questions or concerns.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

(but not limited to...)

  • Verifying timekeeping records and addressing any discrepancies.
  • Calculate and process employee salaries, wages, overtime, and bonuses accurately.
  • Research and resolve various personnel, payroll, and benefit issues.
  • Handling payroll inquiries and providing support to employees regarding payroll related questions or concerns.
  • Perform regular payroll reconciliations, with importance at Quarter-End and Year-End.
  • Generate ad hoc reports and analyses as requested by management as well as assist with budgeting and forecasting as needed.
  • Collaborating with HR and Finance departments to ensure compliance with company policies, as well as federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing records and documentation as required.
  • Prepare year-end tax forms including W-2's and work with a 3rd party to complete the tax process.
  • Maintaining GL payroll coding in the payroll provider system (Workday) to ensure the proper recording of payroll in the accounting software (Odyssey).

Qualifications

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Knowledge of a specialized field (however acquired), such as basic accounting, computer, etc. Equivalent of four years in high school, plus night, trade extension, or correspondence school specialized training, equal to two years of college, plus 3 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to utilize common sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral or diagrammed instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several known variables in situations of a routine nature.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
