Job Description

Danfoss in Jackson, Michigan is seeking a Quality Technician to join our Hydraulic Cylinder and Servo team. The Quality Technician will be responsible for assuring quality in all products and various services of the facility through driving the day-to-day quality system activities, and deploying Danfoss Quality Management System and ISO9001/IATF16949 initiatives. This position will also assist with creating and maintaining certification packages and performing audits as required by the plant and its customers.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintain and update quality procedures, control plans and documentation in accordance with ISO:9001 and IATF 16949 quality standards.
  • Support internal audit functions as required to maintain ISO 9001 and DQMS system.
  • Conduct training of operators for inspection of machined parts, assembly, and product testing and for new hires for the full quality overview.
  • Ensure, review, and maintain process documentation to meet unique customer requirements including materials certifications and test certifications.
  • Operate as company liaison with external quality issues such as: Government QARs, ISO auditors, customer audits and items at other locations.
  • Review customer orders and quotes when requested to determine quality requirements and our ability to meet them.
  • Maintain certification/quality record files on materials and processes. Prepare certification document packages as required by customers.
  • Conduct Supplier Quality Assessments and support the ongoing maintenance by doing surveys to keep them on the approved supplier list in collaboration with Supply Chain Team
  • Support investigations for Corrective Action Reports on product performance (A3, 8D, 4-Step...).
  • Support investigations for internal/ external quality issues and assist other team members in doing root cause analysis to eliminate the problems.
  • Identifies, creates, & reports quality related to the Performance Management System boards.
  • Attends Root Cause Problem Solving meetings and supports cells as needed.
Background & Skills

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of three (3)years' experience in quality control
  • Minimum of three (3)years' experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and customer requirements
  • Skilled in use of variety of inspection gages
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 & IATF 16949.
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR.ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position.Only candidates that currently reside within the immediate geographical area of 50 of Jackson, MI will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree
  • Minimum of five (5)years' experience in the quality control aspects in industrial job shop manufacturing or equivalent
  • Skilled in the use of Minitab for SPC and use of Control Charts
  • Skilled in use of variety of inspection gages, including use of CMM.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in conducting supplier's quality assessment.
