Tax Accountant - NSK Corporation

The Company

The Tax Accountant Role

Assist the Finance team in ensuring that NSK Americas, Inc. and related companies in the Americas region are in compliance with all governmental tax laws. Assist in the preparation of all tax information required for financial reporting purposes. Responsibilities include sales and use tax return preparation, determining opportunities for tax reduction and/or refunds, assisting with internal and external audits, and participating in the month end and year end closing process.

This position will have a heavy focus on indirect taxes but will also assist in income tax compliance as needed. Estimated time in each area of responsibility is as follows: 75% sales and use tax, 10% property tax, 10% income tax, 5% other.

This position is a hybrid position with 2 days in office.

This position will report directly to the Tax Supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares state and local tax documents including preparing property tax returns, sales/use tax returns and supporting schedules.
  • Work with tax supervisor and tax manager and outside accounting firm to prepare federal and state income tax returns.
  • Recommends tax strategies by researching federal, state, and local taxation issues.
  • Maintains tax balance in general ledger, including the preparation of journal entries and reconciliations for selected accounts.
  • Assists with internal/external audits.
  • Identifies tax saving opportunities and process/technology improvements.
  • Responds to notices and correspondence received from tax authorities.
  • Maintain tax rates in computer systems.
  • Advise non-tax personnel regarding tax issues, as necessary.

Education & Experience

  • This job requires a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field and 0 to 2 years of position-related experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills are required.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are required.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a desire to learn are essential.
  • Ability to travel within the US up to 10% is required.
  • Demonstrated interest in taxation is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 is preferred.
  • Experience with tax research software and/or compliance software is a plus.
