Job Description

Job Objective: The ARC Bookkeeper is responsible for processing transactions into the current Salvation Army accounting software including but not limited to: Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable (Check processing), Journal Entries, Purchasing/Procurement, POS Reports & Daily Sales Reconciliations.

Accounting functions:

  • Match store deposit to Daily Sales and credit card postings and process Point of Sale daily

reconciliations, investigate discrepancies.

  • Receive, organize, process (code, review, post) and file finance documents according to ARC Finance Minutes in a timely manner. This includes x-tapes, credit card receipts, vouchers, tax exempt sales, deposits, donations, sales, invoices, receipts, checks, etc
  • Process purchase order requests
  • Communicate effectively with Command, stores, center departments and donors as assigned.
  • Maintain control procedures for Petty Cash.
  • Process Gratuities
  • Support Month End and Year End Closing procedures
  • Provide Reports to Command Staff, Administrators, Department Heads, Internal and External Auditors as requested this includes Month End Reports, Rag Sales Reports, Store Reports, Gratuity, Pension

Compliance functions:

  • Monitors compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Salvation Army Accounting Minutes, Policies and Procedures.
  • Prepare loss of funds submissions for ARC Command
  • Secure center and command approvals as needed for purchases.
