The Visitor Services Representative - School Groups will provide varied and enthusiastic visitor services to all museum guests, thus promoting a positive experience. They will assist with welcoming and onboarding school groups (teachers, chaperones, students), escorting groups to programs, monitoring hallways for safety (people and museum materials), moving lunch bins, and assisting with Science Shop sales.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Deliver and maintain a friendly, cheerful, and professional demeanor to all museum visitors, staff, and volunteers.
  • Provide check-in assistance for school groups in either or both Main (visitor) and West (school group) Entrances while maintaining a calm and welcoming manner and continue to provide help throughout their visit to ensure a positive guest experience.
  • Follow professional attire protocols as set forth by museum dress code.
  • Maintain attendance, punctuality, and performance standards set forth in Cranbrook's employee handbook.

Requirements:

  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Must be comfortable walking and moving throughout the museum for the entire shift and be able to lift and move 20 pounds.
  • Ability to work with the public, school personnel, students, volunteers and co-workers with ease and enthusiasm. Prior customer service and retail experience a plus.
  • Willingness to work flexible, but scheduled, part-time hours including weekends and holidays.
  • Computer experience required; specialized software training is provided.

This is a part-time, temporary/seasonal position, working less than 20 hours per week.

A typical schedule will be Wednesday - Friday, 9:45am - 2pm, with an occasional weekend. The temporary assignment period is March 6, 2024, to June 7, 2024.
