POSITION SUMMARY

The Commodity Manager will play a crucial role in managing the sourcing, procurement, and supply chain activities related to specific commodities within the organization. This role will require a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, negotiation abilities, and a deep understanding of market dynamics. The Commodity Manager will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop and execute strategies that optimize costs, mitigate risks, and ensure the availability of high-quality materials or services.

CORE FUNCTIONS

  • Evaluate and analyze category trends; manage supply risk and minimize total costs. This will include optimizing category strategies and reducing the total cost of ownership.
  • Collaborate cross functionally to determine supply needs and business requirements to select the best suppliers and service providers.
  • Drive the RFQ process and effectively manage supplier performance for quality, price, delivery, and service.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, including the development of new product concepts and optimized services while participating in supplier business reviews.
  • Collaborate with Operations leadership in data gathering and analysis to develop short and long-term action plans for continuous improvement opportunities, initiatives, and significant cost savings.
  • Source specific commodities, manufactured goods and/or service requirements to the required specification at competitive best landed cost terms and in accordance with program and/or budget targets.
  • Drive continuous improvement and cost reduction activities.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required. Master's degree preferred.
  • 6-8 years of related experience required.
  • Experience working in a multinational company is preferred.
  • ERP experience preferred.
  • Automotive aftermarket sector experience is a plus.

Required Licenses

  • Purchasing Certification (CPM / SPSM) is a plus.

Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis in Excel, Word, Power-Point, Outlook.
  • Ability to write, speak, and comprehend English. Ability to write, speak, and comprehend Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small or large group situations to customers, customers, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in complex situations.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret reports and various data sources.
  • Ability to respond to complaints.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management.
  • Ability to negotiate (tactics, techniques, and strategies).
  • Knowledge of database software, manufacturing processes.

Travel

  • Occasional travel may be required; approximately 10-20%.
