The company is currently seeking a Field Service Technician.

Responsibilities

The Field Service Technician reports to the Customer Service Manager and performs different types of support at the customer's location, such as troubleshooting, setup, and installation of systems and equipment. Daily work logs and service tickets must be filled out and accurate, and there is an element of end user and owner basic training to the position. Technicians work face to face with customers on a regular basis.

Major Areas of Responsibility

    Always provide best in class customer service while ensuring customer satisfaction with our material handling systems
  • Troubleshoot technical difficulties, including PLCs, collaborate with design engineers to ensure appropriate resolutions and counter measures are implemented to prevent future difficulties
  • Ability to independently manage projects in a confined timeframe with complete follow through while simultaneously contributing to team and corporate goals needed to ensure successful results
  • Summarize job site activities and resolutions with concise written reports while using a template and in the time frame required per company standards

Knowledge

  • Know the capabilities and functionality of a PLC (prefer Allen Bradley or Proface)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings
Qualifications

Skills & Abilities

  • Read and utilize mechanical & electrical schematics to assist in troubleshooting and resolution of mechanical and electronic components
  • Troubleshoot and repair minor mechanical problems
  • Work alone and be a self-starter with minimal management
  • Able to demonstrate consistent, punctual and responsive client centric hard-working behavior
  • Follow electrical prints defining power and signal wiring
  • Personal interaction and excellent communication skills to interface with engineers, managers and the customer, to affect business results successfully
  • Availability to travel (road warrior level) and accommodate a customer's needs as they arise on and off shift

Education & Experience

  • Two years minimum experience in troubleshooting mechatronics, electromechanical and/or mechanical equipment, or equivalent
  • Working experience with troubleshooting PLC's
  • Associates degree in a mechanical, electrical, or mechanical technician program or equivalent education preferred
  • Work experience with material handling equipment and service experience related to automated material handling systems is strongly preferred
  • This position requires availability to travel on short notice and spend more than 80% of the time traveling
  • This position requires on call assignments and travel to customer sites as needed, at times on short notice
  • This position requires weekends, holidays and off shifts work
  • AutoCAD experience preferred

Demonstrated Physical Abilities

Remain stationary for 50% of the time; move/traverse throughout the office to access file cabinets and office equipment; operate a computer and other productivity machinery; inspect documents; communicate with others through talking/hearing; read/identify/assess forms and correspondence. Visits to customer locations may require negotiating through an industrial facility, including, but not limited to, conveyor systems requiring climbing access ladders, negotiation screen guards, catwalks, and lifting and/or carrying objects up to 40 lbs
