Position Description:
We are looking for a Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer to join our Information Technology Team in our Taylor office. Candidates must have a high school diploma and seven to ten years of experience installing, supporting, and maintaining all aspects of a Windows server enterprise environment, to include hands-on manipulation of physical hardware components. An associate degree is preferred, but not required. Candidates must be proficient in all facets of managing complex file systems and NTFS permissions structures, storage and tape devices, and backup and disaster recovery strategies. Familiarity with civil engineering or other CADD/GIS environments is a definite plus. Candidates must also be self-motivated, work well with others, and have excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills.
Typical responsibilities include:
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, analyze, and improve the Windows enterprise environment
  • Support Windows Server backend operations, infrastructure, and administration
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, analyze, and improve server, storage, and backup systems
  • Design and execute complex on-prem server, storage, and backup projects
  • Coordinate infrastructure project execution with other IT team members and disciplines
  • Perform physical and virtual server installation, configuration, and maintenance
  • Implement task automations using PowerShell and other scripting tools
  • Travel to office locations for infrastructure installations and support
  • Provide infrastructure specific Tier 3 support to Service Desk staff
  • Create and maintain infrastructure and system operations documentation
  • Write effective user-oriented operational documentation when required
  • Communicate problems and resolutions to management
  • Maintain a safe working environment
Education:
  • High School Diploma is required
  • Associate degree in Computer Information Systems or a related field is preferred
  • MCSA or similar certification(s) also preferred
Skills/Experience:
  • Seven to ten years of experience in a Windows Server enterprise environment is required
  • Knowledge of civil engineering or other CADD/GIS environments is a definite plus
  • Advanced knowledge of server, storage, and backup hardware/software required
  • Advanced familiarity with server virtualization required; Hyper-V experience preferred
  • Proficiency with manipulating complex file systems and NTFS permissions also required
  • Proficiency with PowerShell scripting is strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with networking technologies, components, and concepts is a definite plus
  • Familiarity with security mitigation, server patching and update automation preferred
  • Additional familiarity with devising and deploying secure solutions is an absolute must.
  • Must have a solid understanding of new technologies and a desire for continual learning
  • Able to manage and manipulate multiple and often shifting priorities
  • Able to work occasional nights and weekends to complete projects, with occasional travel
  • Able to climb ladders and bend/stretch to access devices; occasional lifting of up to 50-60 lbs.
  • Willingness to work within established frameworks while advocating for improvements
  • Ability to maintain a professional and patient demeanor when interacting with peers and users
