SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for coordinating the work of assigned technical committees by acting as the SAE representative at appropriate committee meetings; facilitating committee work before, during and after meetings; planning meeting facilities; working directly with suppliers; ensuring adherence to legal requirements, policies and procedures; conducting on-site registration; and ensuring the proactive production of technical standards that are relevant to the industry and which meet the goals of SAE.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working closely with technical committee leadership to advance the committees' objectives, using metrics and data to assess committee health and drive improvements
  • Collaborating with committee members and colleagues, facilitate the efficient development, balloting and publication of consensus standards
  • Plan and staff committee meetings in a variety of locations, managing budgets and associated business processes
  • Act as focal point for enquires and communications, ensure adherence to policies and procedures through training
  • Collaborate with colleagues to promote the work of SAE technical committees

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration or related field with 3 years experience in business, meeting planning, or an administrative or customer service support field area, or equivalent, required.
  • Or will accept an Associates degree with 5 years experience.
  • Experience working in or with the aerospace and/or ground vehicle industry, desired.
  • Non-profit association experience and industry standards development process, desired.
  • Experience in managing people (i.e., supervision, volunteerism), preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, required
  • Strong presentation and meeting facilitation skills, required
  • Ability to develop and implement meeting plans, required
  • Excellent organizational, planning and negotiation skills, required
  • Ability to effectively utilize computer programs and web applications, required
  • Strong interpersonal and customer relation skills, required
  • Excellent people management and motivational skills
  • Ability to work with a variety of individuals and coordinate their needs while maintaining the rules and integrity of the organization
  • Ability to travel 15% of the time
