HDR is looking for a Senior Site Civil Engineer to become the next owner and join our growing team in Ann Arbor or Lansing, Michigan.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Senior Site Civil Engineer will be responsible for Civil engineering design and plan production on a wide variety of projects, including site design and development for power, industrial and institutional projects. They will perform complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection, and modification or standard engineering techniques and procedures.

The experienced, competent engineer will have significant expertise in site development including site planning and layout, utility coordination and design, grading and drainage design, permitting, specifications, and construction administration of site infrastructure components. The engineer may make decisions on significant design and engineering procedures. The engineer also may function as technical specialist or project/task manager on mid and large-size projects. May also supervise a small staff of professionals and technicians and perform other duties as needed.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Performs site planning and layout.
  • Develop Erosion and Sedimentation Control Plan
  • Review of geotechnical and geologic reports
  • Pavement Design and AutoTrum Analysis
  • Evaluates hydrology and hydraulics for site drainage improvements.
  • Evaluates water and wastewater flows for site utility improvements.
  • Performs site grading and earthwork analysis.
  • Coordinates with other project disciplines including architecture, structural, mechanical, and electrical.
  • Performs routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures.
  • May act as Project Manager or Task Manager on small to medium sized projects.
  • Works independently on smaller projects or assists senior engineers on larger projects.
  • Expected to mentor and assist junior staff from a technical standpoint.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Required
  • A minimum of 10 years design experience managing various civil/site design projects
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, MicroStation, InRoads and other civil engineering software as appropriate
  • Project Engineering and Project Management experience
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preference given to local candidates
  • PMP, LEED AP and/or ENV SP preferred.
  • Structural engineering experience, such as structural steel and concrete foundation design for utility and industrial projects, using structural software (RISA) is beneficial but not necessary.
  • Microstation and InRoads experience is beneficial but not necessary.
