Primary Responsibilities

HDR is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Michigan-based Industrial team. The Senior Project Manager will be a seller-doer who establishes and maintains client relationships, develops proposals, brings in projects, develops plans for performing the work, monitors and communicates the status of their projects, and leads multi-discipline project teams to successful completion of complex design and consulting assignments. This role requires significant client interaction (from pre-positioning for the work through project completion) and strong verbal and written communication skills as needed for regular interaction with internal staff such as project team members, marketing staff, and operations leadership. The ideal candidate will have significant experience with emerging market trends and industrial projects including gas transmission/distribution pipelines, pipeline-related facilities (i.e. gas compression / metering / regulation), chemical manufacturing, industrial manufacturing, food & beverage, pulp & paper, steel production and other similar project types for transmission, utility, and industrial clients. In this role we'll count on you to:

  • Plan, schedule, lead and manage all aspects of multi-disciplined projects.
  • Independently coordinate work of professional staff and balance team throughout entire project's development
  • Establish and develop client relationships, and be involved with marketing, proposal development, contract development and adherence, engineering design and production meetings
  • Participate in reviews with project owners and/or various governing agencies regarding regulatory compliance issues
  • Conduct work sessions for design development and contract document in conjunction with other staff
  • Coordinate workload through entire project development, and ensure completion of quality work products on schedule and within budget
  • Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure work is completed within parameters of agreed-to schedule and financial goals
  • Work with Business/Accounting Manager or Project Controller and Department Manager for internal project reviews with company management as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Science, or related discipline
  • A minimum of 10 years related experience
  • 5 years industrial project management experience
  • Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Project
  • Basic understanding of Google Earth, ESRI ArcGIS, Autodesk AutoCAD, and Bentley Microstation
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
