Position Overview:

This role is part of the Rigid Packaging North American Shared Service group and reports to the Senior Manager Inventory & Cost Accounting. The role is responsible for supporting the resin and inventory department by managing and reconciling resinfreight, inventory, and warehousing activity, updating freight rates, accruals and improving the accounting of freight and warehousing in North America. In addition to freight and warehousing, the role will support the raw materials cost accounting processes. This role will also support the business by analyzing freight and cost trends as well as support our culture of continuous improvement. The role requires the successful candidate to have strong accounting, systems and analytical skills along with high attention to detail and the ability to work effectively with a variety of stake holders.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

Accounting

  • Manage the process for creating, maintaining, reviewing and analyzing freight payments
  • Manage Hedge Accounting processes for new and existing raw material hedges
  • Review and Analyze large spot purchases of primary raw material
  • Complete Balance Sheet Reconciliations of Inventory and Accounts Payable ledgers
  • Determine accounts payable and inventory valuation adjustments
  • Manage and improve logistics accounting and invoice tracking for raw materials
  • Perform journal entries supporting balance sheet accounting and profitability calculations
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls related to inventory cost and quantity accuracy
  • Ensure transactions correctly reflect the legal / tax structure of our subsidiaries

Analyzing

  • Support inventory and resin accounts payable forecasting process, including impacts of freight and resin purchases on working capital and cash flow
  • Review of accounts payable aging focusing on past due balances and cost trends
  • Other tasks, ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects as they arise

All Other Activities

  • Support and enforce inventory related internal controls
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures
  • Support internal and external audits and activities related to Amcor's quarterly reporting periods and statutory close requirements
  • Support other ad hoc activities as required / necessary

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 4 to 8 years of accounting experience; preference given for inventory accounting experience
  • Strong accounting foundation, including a solid understanding of US GAAP inventory rules and requirements
  • Strong systems aptitude with preference given to candidates with SAP experience
  • Ability to analyze and manage large data sets in excel and other query type databases
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Unrelenting integrity and ethics

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; capable of clearly articulating thoughts
  • Ability to multi-task, meet strict deadlines and work under pressure
